BHUTAN
SO CLOSE TO HEAVEN
This Himalayan kingdom is a destination still shrouded in mystery. We have no doubts that the locals will impress you with their pride for their beautiful mountainous country, their rich culture and religion – both intertwined to create the country’s unique Himalayan heritage, and their warm hospitality.
For those looking to experience the Bhutanese life, we will travel deep into the local communities, staying in villages nestled high above the banks of the river. Experience life in the agricultural community and learn about their way of life through interaction with the villagers over a warm cup of homemade suja (butter tea) or ara (home-brewed alcohol made from grains).
For those who are looking to get closer to the mighty Himalayas, we will take you on paths trodden by the yak herders, skirting the border with Tibet, passing villages which are several days' journey between each other. The Himalayas rise next to the trail, soaring more than 7,000m up towards the sky. All our multi-day hikes will be supported by fearless companions. Mules (or yaks, depending on the altitude you are hiking at) will carry your gear between campsites, so you can devote your energy to enjoying the trail and acclimatising to the rarefied air at these altitudes.
